Regulation of '2005 China Wu Han International Yangtze River Crossing Challenge
Dear Sir/Madam:
China Swimming Association and Wuhan Municipal Government will hold 2005 China Wuhan International Yangtze River Crossing Challenge in Wuhan on Jun 16th -18th 2005.
We’d like to invite your Federation for the competition. Three persons of each Federation invited, including 2 swimmers and 1 official (coach) will be covered the accommodations and the local transportation from June 16th to June 18th 2005(that is 4 night and 5 days) by the Organizing Committee, Additional participant(s) needs to pay 60 USD for accommodation per person each day (including 3 meals) during the period of competition.
The regulations will be applied in the Chinese Swimming Federation, and the regulations are as follows:

2. Competition date: June 16th -18th, 2005
3. Competition Venue: Wu Han City.
Starting place is Qiaotoubao, Han Yang; Destination is Lanwai Junyuan,Wu Chang. Swimming distance is 2500 meters.
4. Qualified Competition Technical Rules
a. All swimmers will be request to participating in qualified competition – 400m freestyle.
b. The sixty male and sixty female swimmers who is the result of 400m freestyle under 7 minutes will be qualified for participating in final competition.
c. In a case of a tie between two swimmers, the next position will be left out.
d. If the number of participants who are qualified is less than 60 (men or women), then the OC could select other qualified swimmers from the opposite gender to meet the number.
e. No substitutes will be appointed for those who are absent or disqualified.
5. Final Competition Technical Rules
Swimmers who are qualified need to sign the athletes’ protocol which indicates their participation are voluntary within two hours after the qualified. Swimmers also need to pay the insurance cost to ensure the credentials of participation could be issued.
The athletes could only take roll calls after the credentials be obtained.
a. Age limit: Athletes of the competition should be born after December 31st, 1955.
b. The competition should be conducted in accordance with latest “FINA open water swimming Rules” and with “supplementary notice issued by Swimming Management Center of National Sports General Bureau.
c. The results of the athletes will be counted in unit of 1/100 second. Judges at the destination will judge those who have got the same result.
d. Athletes could only compete in designated water area and reach the designated destination; otherwise the result will be cancel.
e. When athletes reach the destination, their hand should touch the designated board, which made by Organizing Committee, otherwise their places of competition will not be recognized. In that case, we can only recognize the fact of his/her crossing the river.
f. During the competition, judges have the right to terminate the athlete’s swimming who has serious reaction of his/her body.
g. Athletes cannot use floating objects in competition; otherwise, their results will be canceling.
h. The result of athletes will be cancel if they come out of the water beyond the destination.
i. The dress of athletes should be in line with the requirements of latest “FINA OPNE WATER SWIMMING RULES”.
j. The starting sequence of athletes will be arranged according to the result of 400m freestyle. Women will start before men.
k. The Organization Committee has the right to decide the number of participants in one group. Normally, no more than 40 athletes are arranged in one group.
l. Those athletes who have been rescued up to boats in midway because of fatigue or injury should not be allowed to go down the river again to continue the competition.
m. For irresistible reasons, the organizers have the right to change the date of competition or cancel the competition.
6. Place of Competition and Rewards
a. First 16 competitors in men and first 16 women of all groups will be rewarded and granted the result certification.
b. Bonus:
The 1st place for men & women: 2000 USD
The 2nd place for men & women: 1500 USD
The 3rd place for men & women: 1000 USD
The 4th to 10th place for men & women: 500 USD
The 11th to 16th place for men & women: 300 USD
7. Registration
a. First entry: the number of participants is requested to Organizing Committee before April 20th, 2005.
b. Second entry: fax the name of athletes is requested to Organizing Committee before May 20th, 2005.

a. Please bring with you your National Anthem (VCD/CD) and two flags.
b. he technical meeting will be held in the Official Hotel on June 14.
c. The official language shall be Chinese and English.
d. Insurance of athletes
Foreign athletes should buy insurance by themselves in their countries and regions. The organization committee undertakes no responsibility for any compensation of foreign athletes.
